Dr. Alexander graduated from Kansas State University in 1986 with a bachelor degree in Biology and from Vet school in 1994.  She moved from the Kansas City area, where she grew up, as soon as she graduated from Vet School.  She worked at South Trail Animal Hospital for 7 years before buying Santa Barbara Animal Hospital in 2001.  She has an interest in orthopedic surgeries and is PennHIP certified.  She has plans for the new clinic to include physical therapy.

Dr. Alexander has 3 cats, one lives at the clinic since he is diabetic and insulin dependent.  His name is Tuvok and he is about 12 years old.  He is a little shy so he stays in back most of the time making a mess.

Now to count all the dogs.  Last count was 13 labrador retrievers.  Kahn, Duncan, Martok, Mogh, Dax, Kela, Vash, Kern, Trek, Nog, Tribble, Mudd and Ezri.  The unusual names for her animals come from Star Trek characters because they are so original.  Over the years she has enjoyed training them for various venues, including agility, dock jumping and her latest passion, retriever training for hunt tests and field trials.  She is president of the SW Florida Dog Diving Club in Ft. Myers.
